2. Is it something that is earned?

B. What Does The Bible Say?

Body: Ephesians 5: 21 - 33

I. Submit.

A. To one another.

B. In the fear of God.

II. Wives Submit To Husbands.

A. As to the Lord.

B. Example of the church.

1. Christ is the Head of the church.
2. Christ is the Savior of the body.
3. The church is subject to Christ.

C. Respect your husband (v. 33).

1. Does he deserve it?
2. More important, does Christ deserve your obedience?

III. Husbands Love Wives.

A. The example of Christ

1. Christ loved the church.
2. Christ gave Himself (gave = surrender, yield, entrust).
3. Christ sought to sanctify and cleanse the church.
4. Christ sought to bring glory to the church before God.

B. As our own bodies.

1. Loving our wife is really loving our self.
2. We are to provide nourishment.
3. We are to treasure our wife.
4. The two have become one.
a. The church united with Christ.
b. The husband united with the wife.

C. Love your wife as yourself (v. 33).

Conclusion:

A. We Have Received Commandments From God.

B. We Must Decide What We Will Do.

1. Will we submit to God in obedience?

2. Will we not submit to God in disobedience?
