THE PARABLE OF THE LEAVEN

Introduction:

A. Luke Chapter 13

1. All are sinners and must repent (vs. 1 - 5).

2. All must bear fruit (vs. 6 - 9).

3. Doing good is always right (vs. 10 - 17).

4. The kingdom provides refuge (vs. 18, 19).

B. Has The Gospel Changed Your Life?

Body: Luke 13: 20 - 21

I. The Kingdom Of God.

A. Includes the godly who lived prior to Jesus.

B. Includes those who believed and died during Jesus ministry.

C. Includes those in the church.

II. The Leaven.

A. The Parable.

1. A woman takes some leaven.
2. She hides it in 3 measures of meal.
a. She incorporates it into the meal.
b. Meal is a grain which has been ground, flour.
c. The equivalent of two pecks of flour.
3. The whole batch becomes leavened.

B. The Message.

1. The power of the kingdom to effect change.
a. It takes only a small amount.
b. Do not necessarily see it working at times.
c. Can vividly see the results eventually.
2. The kingdom changes the way things look.
3. The kingdom just naturally expands.

C. Personal Application.

1. Put the gospel in you and you will be changed from the inside out.
2. The gospel will make noticeable changes in you.
3. The gospel will naturally make you grow.

Conclusion:

A. Are You In The Kingdom Of God?

1. Are you growing?

2. Is the Word of God within you?

B. What Changes Do You Need To Make To Say Yes?
