Introduction:

A. Know The Parable Of The Talents.

1. Gives three servants varying amounts.

2. Goes away and returns.

3. Two have increased, one has foolishly hidden.

B. Are You Familiar With The Parable Of The Minas (Pounds)?

Body: Luke 19: 11 - 27

I. Reason For The Parable.

A. Near Jerusalem.

B. Expected the kingdom immediately.

II. A Certain Nobleman.

A. Leaving To Receive A Kingdom.

1. Much like when Archelaus went to Rome.
2. Jews sent a delegation to try to stop Rome.

B. Calls His Servants.

1. There are ten of them.
2. Each gets a mina (pound = equal to a weight)?

C. He Returns.

1. First has increased tenfold.
2. Second has increased fivefold.
3. Third did nothing with the money given to him.
4. What about the others?
5. Unreceptive citizens are punished.

III. Parallel Of Christ.

A. He has gone to receive His Kingdom.

B. He has given each of us talents, abilities and finances with which to do His work.

C. He will come again and will ask for an accounting.

Conclusion:

A. In Which Group Will You Be?

1. Those who have wisely used and increased what He has given?

2. Those who have foolishly squandered an opportunity?

3. Those who never even accepted Him in the first place?
