3. By the thought behind it?

4. By the ability of the giver and their resources?

B. When Is A Small Gift The Greatest Gift Of All?

Body: Luke 21: 1 - 4

I. Previous Passage.

A. Beware of the Scribes.

B. The Scribes seek praise, glory, honor and money.

C. The Scribes eat widow's homes.

II. A Widow Comes To Give Her Offering.

A. What an ironic occurrence!!

1. Is this just some lucky coincidence?
2. Is this a staged opportunity to teach?
3. Is this opportune use of a real life occurrence?

B. An "insignificant" widow.

1. She was not wealthy or notable.
2. She did not have a great gift to bring to the Temple.

III. What God Sees.

A. A Small Offering?

1. She only put in her "two cents" worth.
2. Compared to others it was worthless.
3. Compared to what she had it was a huge gift.

B. Other Offerings.

1. Given out of abundance.
2. Many give what they have left.
3. Majority give what they feel they are able to give.
4. Very few give beyond what they are able to give.

Conclusion:

A. Examine Yourself.

1. Is your gift in accordance to what God has prospered you?

2. Are you giving to God sacrificially or superficially?

3. What comparison are you using to determine the acceptability of your gift.

B. How Would Jesus Use You If He Were Teaching Today?
