A. Simon of Cyrene.

1. Coming from the country to Jerusalem.
2. Father of two sons (Mark 15: 21 = Alexander and Rufus).
3. Ordered to carry the cross.
4. Followed after Jesus bearing His cross.

B. A great multitude.

1. People desirous of seeing event (rubber-neckers?).
2. Women who mourned and lamented (no men?).

II. Reason To Weep.

A. Do not weep for Jesus.

1. He is escaping this life's troubles.
2. He is providing us the escape from this world.
3. His death is a fulfillment and blessing.

B. Weep for the troubles of this world.

1. Those who remain are to be pitied.
2. Times when having children will be a curse.
3. Times when escape from life will be desired.
4. Times worse than the current ones.

III. Three At Once.

A. Jesus and two thieves.

B. A forgiving Spirit.

1. Asks God to forgive them.
2. Asks while they are currently sinning.
3. Asks before they have repented.

IV. Ridiculed.

A. The rulers sneered.

B. The soldiers mocked.

C. The inscription proclaimed.

Conclusion:
