I. The Two Thieves.

A. One blasphemes.

1. Questions Jesus.

2. If you are...save all of us.

3. That is what Jesus was trying to accomplish.

B. One chides.

1. No fear of God.

2. Receiving what is their due.

3. Jesus being punished unjustly.

C. Jesus comforts.

1. Request for remembrance (Joseph's request to the Butler).

2. An appointment in Paradise.

II. Jesus Dies.

A. The sun is darkened.

1. The light is gone.

2. Lasts for approximately 3 hours (long solar eclipse!?).

3. An earthquake occurs (Matthew 27: 51).

4. The veil of separation in the Temple was torn in two.

B. Jesus cries out.

C. He takes His last breath.

III. Too Late.

A. A centurion with open eyes.

1. Glorifies God.

2. Understands Jesus was righteous.

B. A crowd filled with sorrow.

1. Realize a righteous man was killed.

2. Beat their breast (sign of despair and mourning) and return to Jerusalem.

C. Those at a distance.

1. His acquaintances.

2. The women from Galilee.

Conclusion:

A. Selfless Sacrifice.

B. This Is The Example Jesus Has Set For Us.
