2. Rarely, because it is not our home.

B. Is There Someplace You Feel More Comfortable Doing Something Than At Home?

C. Mark 6: 5 - Jesus unable to do mighty work at home.

1.    He had just been at Nazareth.

2.    They had tried to kill Him!

Body: Luke 4: 31 - 37

I. Teaching With Authority.

A. Goes to Capernaum (about 20 miles).

1. What a difference a few miles makes.
2. Teaches on the Sabbaths.

B. The people's response.

1. They were astonished.
2. He taught with authority.

II. Demonstration of Authority.

A. A demon at synagogue.

B. Cries out during service.

1. Concerned about why He was there - selfish reason.
2. Recognizes and proclaims Jesus identity (James 2: 19).

C. Jesus rebukes the demon.

1. Attacks the man one more time, but without harm.
2. Obeys Jesus command.

III. Distinct Results.

A. The people are amazed.

1. Speaks with authority and power.
2. The demons even obey (without long exorcism).

B. The news spreads.

A. Does Jesus Still Teach And Work With Authority?

1. Through the Word? Yes!

2. Through the church? Yes, when we teach and show the good news to the world!

3. Through us. Yes, when we live spiritual, changed lives!
