A NEW WAY

Introduction:

A. A Change In Math Computation.

1. How many here remember the "old way" to solve math problems?

2. How easy was it to switch from the old way to the new way?

B. The Old "Way" vs. The New "Way."

1. The OT and NT set out to accomplish the same purpose.

a. To prepare a people for God.

b. To get the people of God to do His Will.

2. They accomplish their purpose in different ways.

Body: Luke 5: 33 - 39

2. John's disciples apparently did as well.
3. The purpose of fasting is to intently focus upon God.

II. The New And The Old.

B. Do not put unfermented grape juice in brittle wine skins.

C. Do not mix the Old Way of following God with the New Way.

1. The Old Way was a tutor to prepare for the New Way (Galatians 3:24, 25).
2. The New Way is better (Hebrews 8: 6).

D. It is much better to start off fresh than to "break old habits."

Conclusion:

A. Much Difficulty In Explaining Truth At Times.

1. God's way may not seem to make sense (by human wisdom).

2. We still struggle with trying to be "good enough" to earn salvation.

B. Good Works Do Not Earn Salvation, But There Is No Salvation Where There Are No Good Works (By your fruit...).
