ARE YOU READY?

Introduction:

A. Have you ever been late or unprepared for a special occasion?

1. Wedding ceremony.

2. Graduation.

B. Would you prepare for trial if you were charged with a crime?

Body: Matthew 25: 1 - 13

I. A Very Important Occasion (vs. 1 - 4).

A. Most special day for Jewish people..

1. Dress like royalty, even if by borrowing.
2. Parade to Bride’s house then back to Groom’s house.
3. Party/feast all day.

B. Friends and Relatives.

1. Everyone was invited to celebration.
2. Gifts and assistance offered to couple.
3. Carry lights, sing, dance, parade through streets.

II. Be Prepared (vs. 5 - 10).

A. Wise prepared for possibility of delay.

B. Foolish expected immediacy.

C. Wise were ready when needed.

D. Foolish were left.

III. Out In The Cold (vs. 11, 12).

A. Did not know? - These were friends.

B. Entrance depends upon being prepared.

C. knowing someone does not mean they know you.

IV. Our Warning (v. 13).

A. Watch.

B. Do not know the time.

C. Jesus is coming.

Conclusion:

A. Are you ready for Jesus to come back?

B. Are you looking forward to His return?

C. Will He know you?
