2. We often look more like our father or mother.

3. We often act more like our mother or father.

I. Our Normal Reaction.

A. Love our friends.

B. Hate our enemies.

1. To detest.
2. To love less.

II. A Higher Standard.

A. Love your enemies.

B. Bless those who curse you.

1. Speak well of them.
2. Praise them.

C. Do good to those who hate you.

D. Pray for those who are spiteful and persecuting.

1. Ask God’s intervention for those who insult, slander or falsely accuse you.
2. Seek God’s aid for those who pursue you (like David and Saul).

III. Christ-like Desire.

A. Attain the reward.

B. Do more than others.

C. Be like God.

1. We are to have the characteristics of our heavenly Father.
2. We are to be more mature, complete, perfect.
