NOAH FOUND GRACE

Introduction:

A. The Old Testament.

1. Filled with examples of God's people.

2. Show us what is pleasing to God and what is not.

3. Show us God's love and work in their lives.

B. Noah Is An Example Of Imperfect Righteousness.

Body: Genesis 6: 5 - 8

I. An Evil World.

A. How Is It Possible For Continual Evil?

1. Thought evil continually.
2. No good thoughts - no room for them!?

B. The earth was filled with violence.

1. Described as wickedness (v.5).
2. Result of evil thoughts.
3. Corruption of God's creation (v.11).

II. One Shining Light.

A. How did Noah "FIND" grace?

1. He was a just (lawful, righteous) man.
2. He was perfect (without blemish, sincere, sound, undefiled) in His generation.
3. He walked with God.

B. He obeyed God (v. 22).

1. God's command did not necessarily make sense.
2. He likely had to endure ridicule and persecution.
3. It was not easy to do.

III. Imperfection.

A. "Celebrates" by getting drunk!

1. Becomes a farmer and plants a vineyard (9: 20).
2. Several months (a year) later harvests grapes.
3. Stores grape juice and makes wine.

B. His sin affects others.

1. Ham sees his father drunk and naked (9: 22).
2. He gossips to brothers.
3. His ancestors are cursed to be servants (9: 25).

Conclusion:

A. An Old Testament Example.

1. Trusted and followed God against "the wind of evil."

2. Pleased God, even though, he was imperfect.
